Faculty Publication - Dr. Karen Lunsford, Jonathan Alexander and Carl Whithaus
Dr. Karen Lunsford, along with her collaborators Jonathan Alexander and Carl Whithaus, talked with alumni who graduated up to 10 years ago about the evolution of their writing lives. In their recent publication “Activist Orientations: Wayfinding, Writing, and How Alumni Effect Change in the World,” they ask alumni in the UC system questions about “what role does writing play in helping them orient themselves toward engagement with the world around them?” In the end, they call for writing instruction that “recognize[s] how our alumni already appear to be orienting themselves toward activism, or at least robust engagement with the worlds around them, both during college and afterwards. In the end, we want to ask about how we might attend more directly to what our students and alumni are already doing."
