Katie Evans has a Bachelors of Science in Environmental Engineering from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, and a Masters and PhD in Linguistics from UC Davis. As a graduate student, she concentrated in Second Language Acquisition, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, and Writing, Rhetoric, and Composition. She looks forward to applying her diverse background to a range of courses at UCSB. She says Santa Barbara is great because you can surf, climb, hike, bike, and eat great food, all in one ambitious day--and she can bring her dog Franklinn along too.
